Haru San San

Farm Restaurant

Haru San San

A restaurant nestled in the fields
— discover the "food" and "nature" of Awaji Island.

Restore mind and body

At a sustainable restaurant in the fields, built around the theme of "Agriculture, Food, and Living"

HARU SANSAN stands amidst the lush green farmland on the west coast of Awaji Island.

Designed by world-renowned architect Shigeru Ban, winner of the Pritzker Prize, the restaurant features a striking thatched-roof structure and refined cuisine showcasing freshly harvested vegetables from our own farm—inviting you to savor the nature and culinary charm of Awaji Island with all five senses.

The course menus are supervised by Nobuaki Fushiki, a chef specializing in fermentation and brewing cuisine, and Masayuki Okuda, recognized as one of the "World's Top 1,000 Chefs," bringing out the true umami of each vegetable. Live musical performances during lunchtime add to the experience, offering a tranquil dining escape from the bustle of everyday life.

Lunch

Lunch

Seasonal blessings straight from the fields of Awaji Island—an exclusive dining experience that brings out the full potential of vegetables

Our dishes feature an abundance of freshly picked vegetables from our own farm and local Awaji Island producers, prepared using techniques that draw out the natural umami of each ingredient. Highlights include the "Awaji Island Gargouillou-Style Salad" adorned with over a dozen varieties of vegetables, a rich soup brimming with the bounty of the fields, and house-baked bread freshly made in-house every morning. For the main course, enjoy premium island ingredients such as Awaji beef and Ebisu Mochi Pork.

Architecture

Architecture by Shigeru Ban

Sustainable architecture in harmony with nature

Designed by Shigeru Ban, the Pritzker Prize-winning architect, the building employs a hybrid structure of wood and paper tubes to achieve one of the largest thatched hip-and-gable roofs in Japan.

Drawing on the paper-tube structural technology Ban has refined over the years, the design uses paper tubes of the required structural diameter combined with a minimum of wood—replacing conventional large-section timber. This unique framework utilizes renewable materials to reduce environmental impact, realizing sustainable architecture that coexists in harmony with nature.
